Events and activities

A number of Council projects exist across the Borough for targeted community groups in Woking. The Council is committed to supporting local arts initiatives and works in partnership with many local arts organisations to offer a wide and varied programme of opportunities.

Council-led and partner projects include:

Strictly Tea Dance

A series of informal dance events in Woking with traditional tea and cake. The next event is on Wednesday 28 June 2017, 1- 4pm, at the H.G. Wells Centre.

Refugee Week

From 19-25 June 2017 we will be hosting a week long programme of cultural events, workshops and discussion events at St Dunstan's Church and Woking Library.

Woking Carers Choir

A choir for carers that offers informal singing, peer support and respite from caring. Rehearsals are held every other Monday at 11am - 12pm at the Woking Wellbeing Centre, Knaphill. Click here to see a list of dates for 2017.

Creative Lunch

A creative arts programme for people with dementia and their carers, offering two low impact sessions of arts and craft and seated dance and a shared lunch in between. Held every other Tuesday at the Vyne Community Centre. Click to see a list of dates for 2017.

Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year (year of the rooster) in Woking Town Centre on Saturday 28th January 2017 featuring Lion Dancing, Chinese Dancing, Martial Art displays and arts & crafts and traditional Chinese food stalls.

Diwali Celebrations
An annual celebration of Diwali, the festival of lights, including workshops for local schools and community groups, a lantern parade with live music and professional performances and a celebration event at the HG Wells Centre. Click here to see highlights from our 2016 programme.

New Beginnings Art Awards

Annual Art Awards competition run by the Women's Support Centre, in partnership with Women in Prison, The Lightbox and Woking Borough Council. The theme for 2016 was 'In a Land Far Far Away'. Click to see 2016-17 exhibition touring dates.

Summer Sounds
Coming to you this Summer! A variety of bandstand concerts performed by a selection of local bands every Saturday between May and September 2017 in Woking Park.

Street Live

This summer, enjoy live entertainment on the streets of Woking on selected weekends between May and September 2017.

Surrey Artists Open Studios
Artists and craftspeople open their studio doors to the public in June each year.
